5月20日 Popsicles I have been wanting a container to make popsicles. I found one at the dollar store. I went home and washed it, of course and then I put rootbeer in it. I then popped it in the freezer. They are small, but good and icy cold. A nice little treat. I video taped it. I will have to put it up, but it is not hard to do. I need to find a recipe to make banana pop sicles. Anybody know how?12月15日 Decorated Gingerbread CookiesI made Gingerbread cookies. They turned out cute. I did the one with the black shoes. The black shoes was from icing that I bought from the store. It comes in a little tube for writing on a cake. Well, I put it on the cookie for the eyes and shoes and fingertips. The rest of the icing, I made a royal icing. You just take powdered egg whites and powdered sugar and mix it up and make it a little thin. Then just spread it on the cookie or pipe it on. I only had one bag so I just piped on the white. I think it would be easier it you had a bag for each color, but I didn't buy but one bag. The black icing did not ever dry, it was always sticky and smeared, so don't use that. I didn't want to make a black icing, so I would suggest doing the shoes in a different color, unless you want to make black, which I think would be a hard color to make. You just use store bought food coloring. I made a video but I have to edit it, so come back in a few days if you want to see the video. My son thinks the cookies are too pretty to eat. He ate one last night and I said I wanted one. He said "No, I want to eat them." He gave me the arms off his cookie. His favorite color is yellow, so I made him a couple of yellow cookies. I have a store bought box with a bear cookie cutter, so I will have to make those too 12月9日 Why didn't the Pilgrims move to a warmer climate?We were sitting at the table. I had boiled some eggs the other day and decided to cut up two of them for an egg salad sandwich. Hubby likes to cut up mushrooms and dip them in Ranch dressing. The mushrooms were $1 for a small box at Dollar General Market. I thought that was a good bargain. We had this spreadable cheese and bread sticks. We found some Hickory Farms Turkey stick at Target. I love turkey stick. It is much better than the beef stick. You can only get it in the stores this time of year. I also love ham. We buy the brown sugar baked ham spiral sliced. They have been so good. You know what I like to do with it. I take off enough for dinner and trim off the fat. Then I put it in a pan and sprinkle it with brown sugar and then I squeeze an orange to get the juice. I bought a bag of oranges the other day they came from Florida. They are so sweet. Then I bake it for 30 minutes. It tastes so good.
I trimmed my tree, here is a picture of it. There are tons of santa themed movies on ABC family network. I watched this movie last night on Lifetime network. It is called The Note. It was about this reporter who found a note from a plane crash. She spent the whole movie trying to find who it belonged to. Total waste of time watching that movie.
Anyway we were talking about the pilgrims. They landed at Plymouth rock and most of them died. I said they had a ship, why didn't they just go south until it got warmer. Why would they stay and starve and freeze. Who knows. 11月9日 Cube World11月7日 How to make a fresh bloody mary cocktail. This is to make a Bloody Mary cocktail using fresh tomatoes. Take the skins off tomatoes. To do this put the tomato in boiling water for about 20 seconds. This is called blanching. Then immediately put into ice water until cool. Then peel off the skins. Just use as many tomatoes that you want to use, it depends on how much you want to drink. Then cut into chunks and put into a food processor till smooth. Then pour into a strainer to catch the seeds. Use a spoon to push out the juice. This is what you drink. Pour the juice into a pitcher. Put in about 6 shakes Worcestershire sauce. 8 shakes of tobasco hot sauce. (This is a whole glass pitcher of juice.) Pinch of salt and pepper.
Fresh grated horseradish about 1 tablespoon. (It looks like a root, it keeps a long time, just grate it with a micro planer.) Stir all together. Pour some in a cocktail shaker with ice and shake with 1 jigger of vodka. Pour into a glass. For a cute treat put some dill in an icecube and freeze and add to the glass. For a stirrer add a celery stick or a green bean (Keeping the garden theme.)
11月4日 Rockwood Premier Popup tent trailer We drove to Florida a couple of weeks ago to go to Disney World. It was my son's break from school. We just bouht a new Rockwood Premier popup tent trailer. It has an electric crankup system. Let me tell you this, in came you are looking to buy a Rockwood. DON'T!Let me explain. I have had two other tent trailers before, so I know what I am talking about. But it is too late for me, since you can't take them back. Which if too bad. I mean you should be able to return them if they are crap. The first day we bought it, we took it home and the electrial did not work. So we had to take it to the dealer and they fixed it. So we went out of town to try it out. We went to Daniel Boone state park in KY. That was fun. But the sink leaked. It got the floor all wet, the inside of the cabinet all wet. It was a mess. So hubby had to go buy some tools and fix the sink. It needed all new connections. He finally fixed that. Then when we went to go home, the electric, that keeps your fridge cold, didn't work. The screws were popping out of the sides of the trailer where it was figerglassed. We took it back to the dealer to be fixed again. They have not fixed the screws yet. They said someone from the factory would call. They never have.
Now for the trip to Florida. Well it rained in Florida. The air conditioner leaked, a lot. The water was funning out and going all over the cabinet and floor. Then when we went to pack up, the battery was dead and we could not get the crank system to go down. So we plugged it into our car, it blew the fuze out in the car. So they give you this crank to hand crank it. The thing is you have to crank it for like 2 hours because you turn and turn and turn it, and it hardly moves. What a piece of shit that is. So my hubby was mad. We finally got it packed closed. The thing also has a bad sway when you pull it down the road. None of our other tent trailers have ever done that. Hubby worked on it, got the battery charged up and the thing finally worked, but that is a major pain in the butt when you are trying to pack up to leave. We went to the dealers and put in a work order for a new cabinet for it because it is all warped and cracked from the leakage from the sink and leaking roof. Rockwood, I hope your do a search and read this because your product SUCKS! 6月11日 FIREFLIESFireflies are so magical. The last few nights, when it is just getting dark, we have seen bright flashes of yellow light. These bugs are fireflies or glow bugs or lightning bugs. The firefly can control the glowing effect.
I remember as a little girl I would chase the glow bugs all over the yard. It was magical to catch them and watch them blink on and off. They would glow. I would put them in a jar and watch them all blink on and off. I am surprised that I caught them, because as I look out the window at them they are hard to see until they glow, just briefly and then dissappear. Fireflies use their glow to attract other fireflys. Males flash about every 5 seconds, females flash about every two seconds. They are meat-eaters. They eat other insects (including other fireflies, insect larvae and snails.)
So here is a little story I am making up about fireflies.
5月15日 Mother's DayA couple of days ago my sister called and told me my mother was in the hospital. My mom felt dizzy and weak and called the paramedics and they took her to the hospital and admitted her. They did an angioplasty and said she had a clogged artery to her heart. So they were going to a thing where they go in and put in a stent. The nurse had even told my sister that they might do a bi-pass operation. I was a little concerned about that. I told my sister that I didn't think they should do that. My Dad died on the operation table because they were doing open heart surgery on him.
Well today they went back in and did another angioplasty. They put a camera up into your blood vein and look around. They said the clog was totally gone, no sign of it at all. They said it was a miracle, it was gone. So they said she gets to go home. I just called her and she does not have to have anything done. WOW. Amazing. I am glad of that because I am so afraid of her getting an operation. I just had the feeling that she should not get it done. I talked to her last night and she said she felt fine. So that is good that she can go home now.
Best Mother's day present I could ever get. Speaking of Mother's day, my son wrote me a little poem. It was very sweet. Then we went to the store. My husband surprised me by getting me a camcorder. I so love to make videos. He got me a Sony handycam hard disk drive 30GB one. But when we got home he told me to check online and see what the Sony website had for sale. Well they had free shipping and for $50 more than what we paid, they had a new nicer one. It has more memory and more megapixels so I ordered that one and we will take back the one we bought. This is not in the stores yet. It is the DCR-SR62. I can't wait to get it. We have been looking for the Sr42 one for a year and the stores finally had it, but I decided to get the SR62.
I can't wait.  5月11日 Muffins for MomsToday was Muffins for Mom day. I went to my son's school and they gave us muffins and orange juice. On the table was this plant and the container is hand done by my son, he colored it. How cute is that. He met me at the door and walked me to the table that I sat at. Then we went and got me a muffin and juice. Then they did a show, they sang and told jokes. It was so cute. I loved it. Makes me happy to be his mom.
One of the things they did was say things that moms say. One kid said "Mom I want a drink of water." Then another child, being the mom said "No, go to bed." "But I want a drink of water! No, go to bed or I will spank you. Ok, when you spank me, will you bring me a drink of water?"
Everyone laughed. But it made me think. I don't hit my son. But would you hit your child if they wanted a drink of water? I would just say go get a drink and then go to bed. 4月30日 Beauty Today as I took my son to the bus stop, the bus came early. I took my camera with me. The sun was just coming up and as I drove by the lake, I pulled over and grabbed my camera and took this picture. The lake was like a mirror, reflecting all the colors of the trees by it. So calm, so many colors. I like all the colors of green. There is a little path that goes all around the lake. I wanted to sit on the bench and just watch the world go by, but I got back in my car and went home. 4月25日 Oxen and Hearse with foot.Last weekend we went on a trip to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Going down the road, I saw a hearse with a foot hanging out the back door like the door was slammed on the ankle. It was funny. I made a video of it. Click here to see it.
We stayed the night in Cherokee, NC. That is an Indian reservation. Well Native American reservation I should say. I looked up on the internet and they had an old picture of 2 people riding in a cart pulled by oxen. It got me to thinking "what would it have been like to have to go somewhere in the old days."
Honey we have to go to the mill to take our corn in to have it ground for corn meal. Ok lets go load the wagon, and feed the oxen and then attach the oxen to the cart. Then drive for a long ways down some bumby road and that has a hard board seat. Then stay and have the corn ground, while waiting in a long line. Where do I park the cart. Do I have to undo the oxen and let them stand under a tree, because I have to wait and visit with everyone and go barter for other things and catch up on stuff and look at the material and thread to buy to make my own clothes.
Can you imagine. You have to give the people in the old day a lot of credit. They had to make their soap and food. Amazing.  4月19日 The newsIt highly bothers me that the news put that killers video and pictures on the news. I think that in the minds of crazy nutso killers, that they will see that as getting their 5 minutes of fame and glory. So they will try to top the crazed killer and do something worse and then send their video to the news.
Does anyone remember that James Bond movie where the news guy did stuff to make the news? This reminds me of that. How do we know that the news does not pay people to do this stuff.
