The ball just dropped (about 30 minutes ago)

It is now 2009.  I watched the ball drop at Times Square.  I went upstairs and took down the 2008 calendar and hung up the 2009 one.  Just think, in 6 months it will be hot again and I can jump in the swimming pool and float around.  I love to float in the water.  In May, school will be out and I think we will take a trip to go out West.  My son wants to go to Legoland in  California.  It will depend on if gas stays at a good price or if it will go up.  We will have a new president.  (Yeah).
Today we went to the store.  We stopped at Wal-Mart.  I saw some biscuits in a can, so I put them in the shopping cart.  (They call them "buggies" here, I call them carts.)  I told my husband that for dinner I decided to make biscuits with turkey on them and make mashed potatoes and gravy to pour all over it.  Like an open face sandwich.  We went to the deli counter and I got 1 pound of honey baked turkey.  It took the guy a long time to slice it.  I then saw the pastrami was on sale so I got a pound of that too.  To go with that we got a loaf of pumpernickel rye bread.  We got in line and this lady put her stuff on the counter but left two big cases of soda pop in her cart.  We watched her check out and she never told the checker about the pop.  He didn't look.  She paid for what she did ring up and walked out without paying for the pop at the bottom of her cart.  The checker was a little "slow".  My husband said to the checker "Did you forget to ring up that ladies drinks on the bottom of her cart?"  The guy just looked down at what he was doing and didn't even know what we were talking about.  He then went on to say that he wanted to find an apartment that he could afford so he could move out.  He went on and on about how expensive things were.  Next time I go to Wal-Mart, I am going to get me a case of pop and leave it on my cart and go to his line.........(Not really, but I bet that lady before me will.)
Happy New Year.

Another Year has gone by.

It is almost 2009.  I don't like the sound of 2009.  It is hard to shift from 2008 to writing 2009.  Every year the number changes, and it does not change easy to my hand when I write the year.  My son brings home an agenda from school that I have to sign every day.  Plus his teacher has a little report paper weekly that I have to sign and date.  Now I will have to write 2009.  Just think about it, in about 80 years they will look back to the good old days of 2009.  They will say what was life like back in the 2009 years.  Life has changed in the last 100 years.  Changed a lot.  Heck it has changed a lot in the last 40 years.  I remember when I was 10 we got a TV.  TV's came out before that but my parents must not have liked change.  My Mom does not even have a computer.  I love the computer.  Life was not easy at work without a computer.  I love technology.  Have a wonderful New Year's Eve.  I am just going to watch TV.

Root beer popsicles the video.

Popsicles

I have been wanting a container to make popsicles.  I found one at the dollar store.  I went home and washed it, of course and then I put rootbeer in it.  I then popped it in the freezer.  They are small, but good and icy cold.  A nice little treat.  I video taped it.  I will have to put it up, but it is not hard to do.  I need to find a recipe to make banana pop sicles.  Anybody know how?
